“Chinese Immigrants in Silicon Valley and Beyond” is a bilingual photoblog project by the Society of Heart’s Delight, celebrating the voices and stories of Chinese immigrants. Launched in response to rising anti-Asian hate during the COVID-19 pandemic, the project fosters intercultural understanding by sharing personal narratives in both Chinese and English — inspiring immigrant communities from within, while building empathy and connection across cultures.
With growing support from local leaders and communities, the project has featured a wide range of storytellers, from comedians and scientists to youth and seniors. This year, we aim to further diversify our storytellers — especially uplifting underrepresented voices such as LGBTQ+ individuals, new immigrants, and older adults — and expand our outreach to non-Chinese-speaking audiences through in-person events, workshops, and an engaging online presence.
In a divided time, these authentic stories serve as a bridge — breaking stereotypes, countering misinformation, and highlighting the vibrant diversity of Chinese American life in Silicon Valley and beyond.
